Kicks for Cancer this Weekend ~ Fundraising Events and Ceremony to Honor Jeff Hoyland

October 15, 2020

Kicks for Cancer fundraisers at Summit Health and a raffle sponsored by BHS Soccer teams, along with a ceremony to honor Jeff Hoyland’s memory will make this a Kicks for Cancer weekend in Bedford.

Jeff Hoyland wore his Kicks for Cancer t-shirt during the reception to celebrate being named Bedford’s Citizen of the Year in 2019

During Saturday’s soccer game on Sabourin Field, Evan Squire a goalie on the BHS varsity soccer team will honor the memory of Jeff Hoyland who meant so much to Bedford before he lost his 11-year battle with cancer. Hoyland formed a special bond with Evan Squires’ and other Coast Guard families who went unpaid during the 35-day government shutdown of 2018-2019.

Before the game, Squire will present a Coast Guard flag in Jeff’s memory to his family. The flag has flown over Boston’s District One Coast Guard headquarters in memory of Jeff’s father, a Coast Guard pilot.

Two Weekend Fundraisers will Support Kicks for Cancer

One more thing the pandemic has affected this year is the ability to hold fundraisers.  Charities depend on these efforts to help fund their work.  Think of some of the big events that had to be canceled or dramatically changed: PMC Ride, The Boston Marathon, Relay for Life, The PMC Kids ride, and so many more.

This weekend, Kicks for Cancer is up front with two big fundraisers.
