SSgt. Alan J. Rooney, USMC, passed away on November 20, 2020. SSgt. Rooney joined the U.S. Marine Corps out of Bedford High School in 2011 and spent the rest of his life as a Staff Sergeant and Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician in the US Marine Corps. Known by his close friends in Bedford as ‘Rooney’, he knew he wanted to become a Marine after 9/11. He starting training on Saturdays to prepare for boot camp, loved being able to protect his country, and was honored to serve in Afghanistan. After 10 years as a Marine, he looked forward to a future career as a firefighter so that he could continue serving the communities and people around him.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 3, at Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Road. A private funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael Church, followed by military honors.
