We are heartbroken that a replica of our beloved Bedford Flag was carried by one of the rioters in the attempted insurrection by a group of the President’s supporters, an image of which was captured by Getty Images photographer John Moore and published by National Public Radio. To associate the nation’s first battle flag—a symbol of pride and patriotism throughout our Town—with the lawlessness of Wednesday’s events at the Capitol is an insult to Cornet Nathaniel Page and all those who have served our Town and our nation as minutemen, citizens, soldiers, and public servants.
We believe in the rule of law, the right to free speech and assembly, and the integrity of our local, state, and national elections.
We are grateful that Senator Warren, Senator Markey, and Representative Moulton are all safe, and that the business of Congress carried on.
We are proud to represent Bedford.
