Creating Silver Metal Clay Jewelry with Kim Rumberger

February 10, 2021

The Bedford Arts and Crafts Society will present a 5-week virtual course, Creating Silver Metal Clay Jewelry, meeting from 2 to 4 pm on five Mondays in March (3/1, 8, 15, 22, and 29). In this live online course, students will create a one-of-a-kind silver piece and learn several techniques such as setting fire-safe stones, creating scratch-foam textures, working with coils, and finishing your piece. Experience with using metal clay is suggested but not mandatory. Most of the basic tools needed are probably available in your home. All materials will be provided in a supply kit via curbside pickup from BACS in Bedford prior to the first session.

Kim Rumberger will offer a Metal Clay jewelry-making workshop on Saturday, January 11

Kim Rumberger is an internationally recognized, award-winning Cape Cod artist and instructor. A graduate of Bedford (MA) High School, she has been creating for as long as she can remember. She is a faculty member at The Cultural Center of Cape Cod, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Sandwich Arts Alliance, and Cape Cod Museum of Art, where she is also a trustee. She recently won first place in the Man, Myth, and Magic challenge of the Alliance for Metal Clay Arts Worldwide. Kim’s work can be seen on Instagram and Facebook as Metal And Beads and on her website www.metalandbeads.com.

Participants will receive a login to a private Facebook page for sharing photos of pieces and asking questions. Kim will monitor the page daily, interact with students daily, and use it to review progress during the live sessions. Each Zoom session will be recorded and available to registered participants up to one month following the series.

The cost of the 10-hour course is $120 for BACS members, $160 for nonmembers.
This includes the material supply kit of silver clay, 2 stones, specified tools, and a complete tool list. Space is limited to 15; to register email [email protected] by Monday, February 15. We’ll reply with information for payment and kit pickup in Bedford. BACS will email the Zoom link the day before the demo.
