Bedford 6th Grade Girls Capture Metrowest Travel Basketball Division 2 Championship

The #2 seed Bucs opened the playoffs with a 45-34 win over #7 seed Medfield.  Lyla Hollingsworth led all scorers with 15 points, Emma Hollingsworth added 8, Isla Sheridan had 6 points, and Delaney Bertos 5.  A total of eight Bedford players scored in the game, Jadyn Robinson and Taylor Betts also chipped in with points. Willow McGinness provided solid defense in the win.

Bedford won a hard-fought semifinal game vs #3 seed Walpole, 34-29.  The Bucs had eight players score in the game, including Madeline McInnis and Annabelle Davis each with two points.  Georgia Stathakis added solid defense and rebounding.

The 3/14 Championship Game was a rematch with #5 seed, Needham, at Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro. The two teams played a close game earlier in the season, a one-point Bedford win, 30-29.

Needham played well early and took a six-point lead into halftime, 22-16. The Bucs pressed effectively and tightened their half-court defense in the second half, outscoring Needham 24-12 on their way to a 40-34 victory. Bedford spread the scoring across six different players. Lyla Hollingsworth led all scorers with 12, Annie Rossi scored a key basket late and Isla Sheridan and Georgia Stathakis added key free throws down the stretch. Delaney Bertos had two key assists late in the game and provided great energy on defense. A key to the victory was 13 made free throws by the Bucs.

Bedford finished the season with an overall record of 8-4.
