The Department of Public Works will be accepting scrap metal, rigid plastics, and vehicle tires at its third recycling event of the year on Saturday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Compost, Storage & Recycling Center on 108 Carlisle Road.
Examples of rigid plastic items being collected include laundry baskets, plastic crates, 5-gallon pails, yard toys, broken plastic chairs, and other outdoor furniture items.
The DPW urges residents to remain in their vehicles and wear a mask. The DPW staff will remove the items from the cars.
The event is open to Bedford residents only. Proof of residency will be required and resident stickers will be available that day.

Bedford residents will also be able to drop off cardboard, glass, yard waste, and tree debris from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. that day.
