BHS Girls Lacrosse Finished its Strong 11-5 Season on Saturday

The BHS Girls Lacrosse team at Dover-Sherborn High School on Saturday afternoon

It was still anybody’s game after three quarters.

But 18-1 Dover-Sherborn High School proved to be too much for the young Bedford High School Buccaneers, who fell 16-10 in the MIAA Division 2 East girls’ lacrosse sectional finals Saturday afternoon in Dover.

Bedford and D-S traded goal after goal throughout the first half, with the first quarter ending in a 7-7 tie. The Bucs actually took a 10-9 lead late in the second quarter on a score by Astrid Yerardi. But the Raiders tied it at 10 with seconds to go.

Dover-Sherborn made some defensive adjustments and played a more deliberate game in the second half, shutting down the BHS offense entirely. Still, the score after three periods was 13-10.

For Bedford, Allie Zorn and Gaby Zovko scored three goals each, and Yerardi and Sophie Morrissey split the other four. Abby Morrisey added three assists. Goalie Charlotte Dreyfus saved nine.

Katherine Vaughn played an outstanding game against the Raiders’ top scorer, limiting her to two goals.

Bedford finishes the 2021 season with a record of 11-5, and the team seemed to get stronger with every game. Michaela O’Brien is the only graduate on the roster.
