Call for Artists ~ Peace Pole Design ~ New Submission Date is June 28

A Peace Pole designed by Chris Wojnar
Artists are invited to submit a design proposal including a short description of their vision and a sketch of their design by email to [email protected] by Monday, June 28.
From the submitted proposals the selection committee will choose four finalists. Projects should be completed by August 30. A peace pole planting ceremony will take place in September.
A grant from the Social Responsibility Council of First Parish Bedford will support a $250 stipend for each of four artists.
The Select Board has approved a public art project for four peace poles to be designed and painted by local artists. They will be installed at four locations near the center of town: one at the Bedford Library, one at Depot Park, and two on the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail.
Traditional peace poles have been placed worldwide to promote peace.  Now the peace pole has evolved into an artistic vision of inspiration, hope, and beauty. Dovetailing with the May 18 designation of a Cultural District in the heart of town, Bedford’s peace poles will uplift, inspire, and provide hope and encouragement as residents emerge from a difficult year.
