The Bedford High School girls’ lacrosse team competes for the Dual County League Small-Schools tournament championship Monday beginning at 4 p.m. vs. Boston Latin School at Moakley Park in South Boston.
Bedford qualified for the finals by defeating Wayland last Thursday, 13-12, in a game that was up for grabs until the final minute.
The win was a total team effort, highlighted by Sophie Morrissey’s five goals – the final goal was the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Allie Zorn also scored five times, and the last one was the 100h of the BHS career.
Other Bedford goal-scorers were Astrid Yerardi (two) and Abby Morrissey (one). Zorn and Morrissey combined for 17 draw controls, including dominating the circle in the final minutes.
Freshman goalie Meghan Tassinari had six saves.
The girls enter the final league game with a record of 8-3. Coach Nikki Lespasio noted that the junior varsity team has won all 10 of its contests.
