No Delay for Fourth of July Holiday: Refuse & Recycling Collection Will Begin at 7 am on Monday, July 5

The Fourth of July weekend is upon us and though the holiday will be observed on Monday, July 5, the Department of Public Works wants residents to know that refuse and recycling collection in Bedford will not be delayed because of the holiday.

Republic Services will be collecting refuse and recycling Monday, July 5, and residents should place their trash and recycling carts out by 7 a.m. Residents should contact Republic Services at 1-800-442-9006 to report a missed pick-up. The DPW will be closed on Monday.

Republic Services notified the Department of Public Works this spring that it will be conducting normal operations on July 5. Cognizant that many residents may be out of town that weekend or do not put out their trash and recycling carts due to the holiday, the DPW arranged to have Republic Services pick up misses on Tuesday, July 6.

“Republic informed the DPW it could not delay collection next week because of commitments it had made to other towns in which it services,” said David Manugian, Director of the DPW. “Republic agreed to station a trash and recycling in town on Tuesday to empty the carts at those homes which did not get serviced on Monday.”
