June 24, 2021

Sarah Scoville was elected chair of the School Committee for 2021-22 at the panel’s virtual meeting Tuesday; Brad Morrison was chosen vice-chair and JoAnn Santiago secretary.

Santiago praised retiring chair Dan Brosgol for his leadership during the past year. “I hope the whole town appreciates your work, she said. Brosgol, who saluted Santiago for her performance as his predecessor, remarked, “We all worked harder at this than our actual jobs. I’ll take our work against anyone’s. And I hope we never have a year like this again.”

He also lauded Ryan Doucette, the retiring student representative to the School Committee. “What an asset you were for us,” he said. “You will be successful very soon.”

Doucette, who will soon start his freshman year at Ohio State University, thanked the committee and the superintendent of schools for the opportunity. “I felt like I actually had a voice, and that’s a testament to all of you,” he said.
