Summer Concerts on Tap Plus Special Events for Kids

Thursday evening summer concerts are back.

Recreation Director Amy Hamilton announced Thursday that there will be four headliners on consecutive Thursday evenings beginning on July 22.

Hamilton is promoting the series as a special feature of the town’s “activity complex,” which “boasts a vast lawn for concert-goers.”

“The concert venue is surrounded by a playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, a walking track, a skate park, and athletic fields,” according to promotional material for the series.

Each concert starts at 7 p.m., and will also be accompanied by a “special event” for youngsters. Here is the complete schedule:

  • July 22: The Party Band of Lowell, a unique contingent of brass instruments that bills itself as “committed to education, celebration, community, and making grooving music that moves our audiences.” Special event: the Trackless Train.
  • July 29: Tom Bruhl Trio, a small Raynham-based ensemble that produces the sounds of an orchestra. The leader, a Berklee graduate, plays guitar, saxophone, or flute. Special event: Vinny the Bubble Guy.
  • August 5: Club Soda, a four-piece group out of Concord, NH with a wide-ranging repertoire, from classic rock to top 40 to a “sprinkle of country.” Special event: the family picnic and activities for Summer Adventures and Kids’ Club.
  • August 12: Cold Chocolate, a two-man Boston-based group that describes itself as “a genre-bending Americana band that fuses folk, funk, and bluegrass to create a unique sound.” Special event: pony rides.
