A new bench on the Job Lane House lawn was installed last week to honor Bedford centenarian Jo Champney.

Presented by the Bedford Garden Club to mark her 100th birthday and ongoing devotion to the Lillian Dutton Herb Garden, the new bench fulfills Champney’s wish to be able to sit under the shade of the apple tree and gaze upon the garden tucked into the ell of Bedford’s historic house museum.

Jeannette Pothier coordinated the fundraising for the bench and reported that the Facilities Department installed granite bars to which Ernie Ramey bolted the bench.
