Mark Waksmonski Moving to State Position ~ Health Department Seeks New Community Nurse

~ Submitted by Fahad Alden

Mark Waksmonski has resigned from his position of community nurse in the town Health Department, effective Aug. 13, to join the staff of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Heidi Porter, Director of Health and Human Services, announced his departure during last week’s meeting of the Board of Health.

“Mark has given  his resignation notice; he will be with us till the middle of August, and we will be working on the transition,” she said, adding, “The position for community nurse has been posted.”

Waksmonski responded, “It has been a pleasure working with you all.” He said he is excited about upcoming opportunities but, “I’m also sad. I enjoyed working here, and I will continue to help out when Covid responds.”

Board of Health Chair Anita Raj said, “I got to say the biggest thank you when you were making the last term of your nursing degree — all the clinical and exam and all the efforts and then jumping back here full time so that you could help us out. That was amazing.”

Other members of the board paid similar compliments.

Mark was instrumental during the town led J & J vaccine rollout! He was so helpful and made our experience a positive one. Best of luck in your new adventure! Thank you! You will be missed!
