Select Board Approves Extended Outdoor Dining for Five Restaurants

August 13, 2021

The Select Board on Monday voted to extend outdoor dining permits for five local restaurants until April 1, 2022.

The vote followed Gov. Charlie Baker’s executive decision to allow the extensions, as the commonwealth slowly works its way back from the limitations of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Flatbread, Ken’s Deli, Minuteman Diner, Pepper’s Grill, and The Great Wall were extended. Town Manager Sarah Stanton congratulated the board for supporting small businesses and noted that “Minuteman wants to stay open outside all winter. They have a snow-removal plan.”

Some of the local dining places already have approval for outdoor service in their original permitting.

Stanton also informed the board that as of Aug. 30, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority plans to restore bus service between Bedford Woods Drive, off Middlesex Turnpike, and Alewife Station. “This is great news for Bedford businesses and residents around the turnpike,” she said.
