Timothy Pike Accepts New Position in Industry ~ Chief Seeks New Police Officer

Bedford Police Officer Timothy Pike has resigned to take a supervisory position with Eversource, the energy company.

“I was glad to serve the community that gave so much to me over the years,” said Pike, a 2011 Bedford High School graduate. He joined the force in 2015.

Police Chief Robert Bongiorno applauded the departing patrolman as “all that was good about 21st century policing. I wish Tim well in his future endeavors – his resignation is a huge loss for this department.”

Pike’s great-uncle Herb Pike was a long-time Bedford police officer.

The chief said he is attempting to fill the vacancy by advertising it as a “lateral transfer,” from another Civil Service department, which is a permitted option to fill an open position.

He explained that this approach should integrate the appointee faster than hiring through the department’s Civil Service eligibility list because the candidates are already trained. The vacancy was posted last week, the chief said.
