Water Main and Hydrant Flushing Program ~ Update, Sept. 13, 2021

September 13, 2021

The Bedford Water Division will be flushing hydrants to ensure clean, clear water throughout the distribution system.  The work will be done weekdays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM from September 8th to September 14th. The program starts at the Lexington meter vaults and moves northwesterly across Bedford.  Signs will be set out the day before flushing in each specific area of town.

If you experience rusty water please let your cold water run in the bathtub or shower faucet for several minutes.  If the water does not clear, or if you have any questions, please contact the Bedford Department of Public Works at (781) 275-7605, ext. 4255.

***UPDATE- Sept 9,2021***

The second phase of the hydrant flushing program will be along Great Road starting at the Lexington town line and continue westerly through neighborhoods off Great Road, Carlisle, and North Road.

***UPDATE- Sept 13,2021***

The final phase of the hydrant flushing program will start along Page Road at the Lexington town line and run through the abutting neighborhoods over to areas off Old Billerica Road, Burlington Road, and up Crosby Drive to Middlesex Turnpike.

Thank you for your cooperation through this annual program.
