An Obituary: John S. Gittins

October 25, 2021

John S. Gittins passed away on October 22, 2021.    A long-time Bedford resident whose parents also lived in town, Mr. Gittins loved many things—from being a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne to becoming a computer systems analyst and teaching psychology. At heart, however, he was an artist who loved confronting the challenges inherent in creating paintings, photographs, and prints. His paintings are in the collections of the National Museum in Prague, the Fort Lauderdale Museum, and the Flint Institute of Art, among others.

Calling hours will take place from 4 until 7 pm on Thursday, October 28 at the Bedford Funeral Home, 167 The Great Road. Burial will be private.
