November 12, 2021

Bedford High School’s girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams will compete in Saturday’s Division 2 state meet at the Gardner Country Club.

There are 10 boys and 10 girls on the respective rosters. Seven will compete in each race, and the first five finishers will be part of the score calculation. The top seven teams will advance to the state tournament the following weekend.

The girls will be led by juniors Coco and Lulu Steele, sophomore Farrah Scott, freshman Grace Niu, and senior Maddie O’Neil. Two of the following runners will round out the lineup: 10th graders Sam Sheahan and Kaylyn Sethakosee and ninth-graders Anna Massaro, Vivian Liu, and Madeleine Ota.

The boys’ roster is Peter Benson, Oren Brosgol, Alexander Brough, John Garraway, Joshua Garraway, Matt Goodhue, Lucas Guerrero, Kirk Haskell, Carter Rauch, and Jay Schwartz.

The girls’ team won three of four Dual County League meets and had an overall record of 3-3.

“I believe our runners are ready to run their best races when it matters most,” said Coach Joel Hebert. “Coco and Lulu were huge parts of our successful 2019 team that took fifth place at Divisionals, and we are counting on them to lead us this time as upperclassmen.”
