Tickets for the Bedford High School Sports Hall of Fame induction dinner and ceremony are now available, electronically and by check.

The event is scheduled in person for Saturday, Dec. 4, beginning at 6 p.m. at the DoubleTree Bedford Glen Hotel on Middlesex Turnpike.

Tickets at $50 can be purchased directly online at HOF Tickets online payment or by check by completing this form — HOF Tickets Paid by Check – and mailing the payment to Keith Mangan, c/o Bedford High School, 9 Mudge Way, Bedford 01730.

Seven student-athletes, one long-time coach, and three championship teams will be inducted into the Hall.

The honorees are Samantha Cowan ’14, Erin Dietz ’15, Colin Toss ’93, Doug Shamon ’79, and Elisabeth Watson Rogers ’12. Two others will be inducted posthumously: Jay Porter ’70 and James Giencke ’71.

Coach Allen Dougherty, whose leadership of track and field teams spanned more than 40 years, will join Coaches Jim Byrnes, Helen Gfroerer, Art McManus, Bob Petrillo, Armand Sabourin, Jake Sullivan, and Dave Wilson in the Hall of Fame.’

Two men’s basketball teams, 36 years apart, both won MIAA North Sectional championships: the 1973-74 Buccaneers, coached by Keith Adams, and the 2009-10 team, coached by Byrnes.

The 1976 golf team, coached by Terry Bane, won the Eastern Massachusetts regional team title by a margin of 17 shots.

The Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Bedford Athletic Association since 2006, features individual student-athletes, teams, coaches and friends connected to interscholastic athletics at BHS. Nominees are evaluated by a selection committee, based on measurable and intangible performance, as well as achievements after BHS.
