Rec Department Winter Programming ~ Registration Opens at 8 pm on Monday, Dec. 6

With both in-person and virtual programs on tap, registration for most youth programming opens at 8 pm on Monday, December 6.

Pre-school programs include Toddler Tumblers, Hoopster Tots, Tiny Tykes Soccer, and Music Together; there is also a Ninja Warrior program for ages 4-6.

Elementary programs at Davis School begin with an 8 am drop-off program for grades K-2. Afterschool activities include a Yoga class, art instruction, two different basketball programs,  floor hockey, a Supersports program, Adventures in STEM, and Kids Test Kitchen.

Lane School programs include an early-morning drop-off program in the gym starting at 7:30 am. There’s a two-week January excursion to Nashoba Tubing Park on Wednesdays. Bedford after-school programming for grades 3 to 5 includes a 3-Printing, Coding, and Design workshop; STEM Exploration with LEGOs, 2-D video game design; TV production; Minecraft Coding; App Inventors.  And, there will be Yoga, a weaving class and a knitting group.

There are also multi-age youth programs: gymnastics (gr 4-6); Futsal (K- gr 3); chess (gr 1-5); indoor tennis (K-gr 5); dining etiquette (gr 2-7) and social skills (gr 2-7).

No-school and vacation day programming for elementary students?

Check out Sports Mania (ages 7- 12); All-Day Art (gr 1-5); Winter Wonderland Engineering (K-gr 2); Winter Wonderland Challenge (gr 3-5).

Middle schoolers may enjoy 3-D printing, coding, and design; Game Club; stop-motion pixilation; winter strength conditioning; and baby sitter training. High school students interested in robotics can zoom into a free one-session career exploration.

There are also several adult cooking, art/craft, and exercise classes that will welcome high school students. A brochure highlighting winter classes for adults recently arrived in residents’ mailboxes.

Summer Adventures (entering grades 1 to 4) and Junior Adventures (children who will be 4 by June 30) have a full schedule planned.
