Welcoming the Winter Holidays with Twinkling Lights and Festivities on Bedford Common

Bedford’s annual tree lighting took place shortly after dark on Saturday, December 4, when 2021 Citizens of the Year Lois and Brown Pulliam counted down the final seconds before the trees twinkled.

But that wasn’t all there was to see.

There were pictures with Santa, hot chocolate at the fire station, night lights to make cycling and walking the dog safer in the dark, and a winter wonderland although no snow had been in the forecast!

There were friends and neighbors to greet before the kids lined up to whisper in Santa’s ear.

With thanks to the local businesses who helped to make the magic: Barrett-Sotheby; the Bedford Fire Department; the Rotary Club of Bedford; the Bedford Chamber of Commerce; Suzanne and Co.; and all of Santa’s helpers who masquerade as municipal employees during the rest of the year.  And thanks to Bob Dorer, Nancy Daugherty, John McClain, Marc Hamilton, Victor Tom, Laura Bullock, and Laura Wallace for sharing images in the following gallery.

Wonderful Gallery…. How lucky to have grown-up in this then very Rural Town; Just Thinking. back to, 21March 1943, We 3 Damery’s, Alice, Joe & infant brother Bill, were oh so fortunate that our parents bought the house at 98 South Road… Moving here from a rented-location in east Arlington; near the Lake Street B&M Station, never realizing we’d be living only a few hundred feet from the Overnite- Terminus for the 3 steam-Powered Passenger Trains that parked Next to, The Middlesex-Coal & Grain Buildings, on South. Rd… Oh how fortunate are today’s Bedfordites to enjoy thisWonderful Community w/a Spirit that so well shown in this Tree-Lighting Gallery… All best Holiday wishes from, Joe Damery, now at age 91….
