Letter to the Editor: Regarding Sheila Mehta-Green and Brad Morrison, Candidates for School Committee

~ Submitted by Tara Goss

I am pleased to submit this letter to the Bedford Citizen in support of Sheila Mehta-Green, running for School Committee and Brad Morrison, running for re-election to the School Committee.  I’ve known both for many years and could not think of two individuals more suited to this position.

I met Sheila after my family moved to Bedford 12 years ago. Our sons are the same age and our paths crossed both as volunteers and as sports parents.  We’ve since become good friends and I am in constant awe of her tireless commitment to the Bedford Community. She brings an unwavering passion around diversity and inclusion, a willingness to listen to and build consensus around issues, a willingness to learn, and an ever-present optimism of what everyone (including herself) is capable of.  She has an uncanny knack for galvanizing students, parents, and the administration to work towards a common goal with significant positive impact. Her website is titled Sheilaforbedford.com and I encourage you to learn more about her, how her professional expertise would serve this committee well, and all the amazing things she has accomplished as a parent in our district. Quite frankly, I don’t know anyone who is “More for Bedford” than Sheila.

I’ve known Brad Morrison for 19 years having first met him when I lived in Burlington MA and our families both attended Burlington Presbyterian Church.  I had the pleasure of working with him on the Session of the Church (the church’s governing body) for several years.  In that capacity, I was consistently impressed with Brad’s reasoned, thoughtful and compassionate approach to issues that came up for our congregation (social, emotional and financial).  Once our family moved to Bedford, what a treat it’s been to see the Morrison family more regularly. Our sons have played Travel, Club and BHS soccer together. He cheers for everyone on the team just as loudly as he cheers on his own son. He has brought that same spirit of enthusiasm and inclusiveness as a member of the school board – wanting to do right by our students, teachers and administration. I’ve been continually impressed with his commitment to, preparation for and engagement with the current committee.  Please check out https://www.bradmorrisonbedford.com/ to learn more about all his contributions.

I hope you will join me in electing Sheila and re-electing Brad to the School Committee on March 12th.
