Letter to the Editor: Regarding Shelia Mehta-Green, Candidate for School Committee

~ Submitted by Drs. Richard Kaiser and Elizabeth Peters Kaiser

As Bedford residents with children in our school system for over 20 years, we are enthusiastically writing this letter in support of Sheila Mehta-Green’s candidacy for Bedford School Committee. We have known Sheila, her husband and her two children for over ten years as our families went through the Bedford school system together.

Sheila has always actively sought to get involved in opportunities to enrich our schools and community. Sheila has a wealth of experience in Bedford SEPAC, comes from a diverse background, and is a strong supporter of the music and theater programs in the school system. Her career in technology and education has kept her in the forefront of this field as well.

For over 10 years, through her work with SEPAC, Sheila has helped bring many speakers to our community to support families with special education needs. She helped establish a community resource for families in special education as well. Sheila is truly committed to inclusion in her advocacy and practice. She grew up in the Belmont public schools, in a mixed religion home of Christian and Indian cultures, and is active in the choir at St Michael’s Parish in Bedford. Sheila’s career in education and technology, her doctorate in sociology, and teaching at Middlesex Community College have given her exceptional skills that will continue to benefit our children in the future.
