5/6 Select BB Raiders beat Lexington 14-5

~ Submitted by Coach Jeremy Watkins

On any given night during the week, if you look around the fields in town, you will see kids playing lacrosse; boys and girls from first grade all the way to high school. What is different about this year, is the addition of a ‘Select Team.’ Bedford partnered with Belmont to help both towns play in a slightly more competitive league. Spencer Betts is the head coach, but Jim Quinlan, Ryan Fitzgerald, Dave Brecher, and Todd Francone have all put in countless hours to help make this team happen. Go BB Raiders!

On Saturday, the BB Raiders beat Lexington 14-5 during their first home game of the season. After losing to Nashoba last week, the BB Raiders bounced back to score 14 points over our neighboring rival Lexington. It was a great team win with 9 different players scoring goals. 6th graders Nicholas Brecher and John Whitesides scored 3 points each. Defensively, the BB Raiders were able to contain Lexington’s explosive offense to only 5 goals. Rowan Quinlan, Ryan Betts, Matthew Jeffers, and Logan Arrar lead this effort on behalf of the Bedford players. The Attackers were able to get extra possessions by being aggressive on the rides, Evan Skipper, Oliver Boglarski, and Lucas Francone were the Bedford players putting in maximum efforts up front. 4th grader, Jaxon Sylvester stepped up and played goalie for the team and only let in 5 goals. This was a complete team win.
