Second Booster – What’s Bedford Thinking?

April 11, 2022

The FDA has recently authorized a second booster for anyone over 50 or with an underlying medical condition.

The wording of the announcement is much different from previous authorizations.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says anyone 50 and older “may choose” to get the second booster (or fourth shot) at least four months after their last vaccination.

The urging and even mandates of previous authorizations have been replaced with “may choose.”  Some experts question whether now is the right time to get a second booster.  Some say we should wait until we encounter another inevitable surge.

That being said, are we starting another surge?   The Omicron BA2 variant seems to be driving cases higher.

Anecdotally, the boosted people I know who have come down with Covid have had very mild symptoms, if any at all.

So, what’s Bedford thinking about second boosters?

Do you plan to get a second booster COVID-19 shot?
