The surging Bedford High School girls’ lacrosse team delivered one of the most impressive victories in program history Tuesday afternoon with an explosive come-from-behind 16-11 triumph over Acton-Boxborough on Sabourin Field.
Coach Nicole Lespasio had a succinct summary: “a massive win.”
The Bucs were ranked second in the state MIAA Division II power rankings before beating the eighth-ranked Division I Colonials.
And it wasn’t easy. Bedford trailed 7-4 after the first 25 minutes, with the Colonials finding the back of the net with just seconds remaining in the half.
Senior Sophie Morrissey helped set the comeback tempo and ended up with seven goals and four draw controls. Her classmate Allie Zorn added five goals, five assists, and five draw controls, despite defensive pressure. “She was great with the pressure ad handling the doubles,” Lespasio said.
Junior Gaby Zovko dominated the draw with eight draw controls, and Abby Morrisey, who tallied three, dominated midfield.
BHS girls lax has now won eight out of nine and entertains Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Thursday at 4:15 p.m.
