The Bedford High School boys’ tennis team entertains Austin Preparatory of Reading at 3m p.m. Wednesday in the second round of the MIAA Division 3 state tournament.
The Bucs ranked third in the state, reached the round of 16 thanks to Monday’s 5-0 win over Pope Francis of Springfield.
All five matches were two 6-0 shutouts: Owen Goss on first singles, Spencer Goss playing second singles, Adam Capobianco and Jake Klingenberg first doubles, and Drew Watson and Shun Isobe second doubles. Pope Francis did not have a competitor in third singles so it was a forfeit.
Austin Prep ranked 14th, defeated Fairhaven High, 4-1 Monday.
