The 8th Grade Girls Soccer team avenged their only loss of the season by blanking Lexington yesterday 3-0. The goals were scored by Kate Collins, Nadia Thacore, and Susan Zuo and the keepers Julie Curtis and Ciara Shelton combined to record the blank sheet.
Prior to the season, the team got together and established their goals for the season which included being good teammates on and off the pitch, representing the town of Bedford, and ultimately winning their section. The girls emphatically delivered on all three goals as they were crowned BAYS Section 8-3D champs while finishing the season with a sterling record of 9-1. Even more impressive was the fact that the team recorded 5 straight shutouts to close their season as the team’s claim to fame was their staunch lockdown defense.
The team was comprised of Erin and Katherine Adams, Maya Arsenault, Shayne Burgner, Evelyn Chiu, Kate Collins, Julie Curtis, Abby Cutrona, Parker Ferguson, Mackenzie Gordan, Catherine Kennedy, Julia Mullins, Ciara Shelton, Nadia Thacore, and Susan Zuo and they were coached by Michael Ferguson, Shad Thacore, Kurt Shelton, Joel Collins, and supported each week by their #1 fan, CJ Ferguson.
This season was a culmination of years of hard work improving their skills on the pitch as many of the girls have played together since the 2nd grade. While they look forward to High School, they will always look back on this fond memory of a championship season.
Awesome job girls. So proud of you and the level of effort and dedication throughout the years. Congrats on a great season.
