Summer Kids’ Events at the Bedford Free Public Library

The Bedford Free Public Library will be Fun Central for kids of all ages in early July with daily and special events, along with the library’s summer reading program. The library will be closed for the Fourth of July weekend (closing on July 2, reopening on Tuesday, July 5. After the holiday, prepare to have fun!

MUSICAL MONDAYS
for ages 2-5

Join Ms. Sue for a weekly exploration of music, stories, rhymes, and movement!

Each week, try your hand at a fun new activity. Supplies are limited, so sign up during the week before the event you want to attend!

STORIES ON THE LAWN on WEDNESDAYS
for ages 0-6 years ALL WELCOME!

Join us on the lawn for stories, songs, rhymes, and a whole lot of fun!  Look for the parachute.

DROP-IN LEGOS CHALLENGE  on WEDNESDAYS
Best for ages 3+

We have so many LEGO and DUPLO blocks waiting to be used!  Drop-in anytime during the event to see what you can build with them.

LEARN UKULELE with JULIE
Ages 8-12
MONDAY, JULY 18 ~ 3:30 to 4:30 PM
Want to try an instrument that is fun and easy to play? Join Julie Stepanek as she shows the fundamentals of ukulele playing. You’ll learn how to tune, strum, and read chords. After a short lesson, you’ll be able to play songs. No experience necessary. Bring your own ukulele or borrow one of hers. Register online beginning July 1

CURIOUS CREATURES
Ages 5+, Family-friendly

FRIDAY, JULY 8 10:30 to 11:30 AM
Curious about creatures? Join the library on the lawn to learn about amazing animals that you can see and maybe even touch! There’s always something amazing to discover when Curious Creatures visits.

Visiting animals often include small mammals, snakes, and other reptiles. Over the years, we’ve seen skunks, rabbits, chinchillas, bearded dragons, sugar gliders, tree frogs, tarantulas, corn snakes, tortoises, pythons, and even baby alligators.

We don’t know which animals will be visiting the day of the event, but you can count on seeing incredible critters!

FAMILY MUSIC with SARAH
All ages, no registration needed
SATURDAY, JULY 9 10:30-11:15 AM
Sarah is back with all the music and fun we’ve missed! Join her on the library lawn for singing, dancing, and lots of music-making. Blankets are recommended.
In the event of inclement weather, join the group in the Meeting Room instead.

FAMILY CONCERT with TOM SIELING
Family-friendly, ideal for ages 3+
MONDAY, JULY 116:00-6:45 pm
Take a tromp through the swamp with musician Tom Sieling! It’s a concert full of music, dancing around, and lots of interesting facts about nature.
We hope to offer this event on the library’s lawn, open to all. In case of inclement weather, please check this date on the website calendar for registration information so we can limit the crowd in the meeting room.
