Jean-Louis Weicker passed away on August 18, 2022. Mr. Weicker brought an international perspective to Bedford when he arrived in 1973. He grew up in Luxembourg during and after World War II; one of his earliest memories was seeking refuge with his family in the countryside during the Battle of the Bulge. After earning a degree in commercial and consular sciences from the Institute Supérieur de Commerce in Antwerp, Belgium, he led the North American operations of Griphoist, Inc. for four decades. For his years of unofficial diplomacy for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr. Weicker was named Chevalier de l’Ordre Grand-Ducal de la Couronne de Chêne. He was an enthusiastic traveler and fisherman who pursued “anything with fins” from Ireland to Alaska. He leaves behind his wife Annemarie, and three daughters; Nathalie, Jacqueline, and Catherine.
A private family ceremony and burial were held at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery on August 21, 2022.
