The Bedford Education Foundation is proud to announce the funding of five grants in our Summer 2022 grant cycle, totaling $6,200. Congratulations to all of our grant recipients! We appreciate the tireless efforts of these educators. To date, the BEF has funded more than $300,000 towards creative and innovative projects in the Bedford Public Schools. Thank you to our community partners and supporters for making this impact possible!

Secret Stories Phonics Kits for Kindergarten Team
Davis Kindergarten teacher Kristen Enneguess was awarded $1,081 to purchase Secret Stories, a fun, engaging, and science-aligned literacy practice that helps early readers with letter-sound knowledge, the foundation needed to build reading and writing abilities.

Team Building Activities for Social and Cooperative Development
JGMS’s Kelsey Little was awarded $937 to purchase outdoor social games and equipment for 8th graders to engage in cooperative activities, with the goal of helping students develop their social skills through physical movement with team-building exercises.

Teach Living Poets
BHS English teachers Elizabeth Marcotte and Sarah Kane were awarded $941 to purchase poetry collections from contemporary poets too new to be included in the school’s existing poetry anthologies, allowing students to expand their analysis of poetry and connect to real-life issues through the language of poetry.

Sensory Motor Classroom
Davis School’s Jess Colby, Caitlyn Queenin, Pamela Woolfrey, and Courtney McKelvey were awarded $2,834 to create a school-wide sensory motor room with the goal of creating a proactive tool for students to develop self-regulation.

Director of Visual Arts Sean Hagan was awarded $449 to purchase LED lights to allow BHS digital photography students more versatility and excitement with lighting subject matter and professional-level results.

We are already thinking about next year! Want to know more? Drop us a line at [email protected]. We are looking for new volunteers for the 2022-2023 school year, and there are many ways to lend a hand. We are a fun, dedicated group of parents who have/have had children in all four Bedford schools. It’s a great way to meet new people, have some fun, and really make a difference in our schools. Enjoy the rest of the summer, and we’ll see you in September!
