The Department of Public Works will once again host the semi-annual collection of hard to recycle materials. This year’s events feature paper shredding, styrofoam recycling and new this year, latex paint collection (Oct 1) as well as electronic recycling, tires, propane tanks and fire extinguishers (Oct 15).

The events will be held on Saturday October 1 and Saturday October 15, from 9-1 at the Compost & Recycling Center, 108 Carlisle Rd. Residents are asked to stagger their arrival alphabetically by last name to avoid traffic impacts on Carlisle Rd and Winterberry Way. A-F 9-10; G-M 10-11; N-Z 11-noon; All residents noon-1PM

A blue resident sticker or proof of residency is required to attend. Bedford residents only – no commercial waste or vehicles. Skip the wait and pick up your free resident sticker at the DPW Building, 314 Great Rd during business hours. Please bring your vehicle registration with you when requesting a sticker.

The DPW has put together a FAQ document to help residents understand what to bring and what to leave at home. Please review the document before attending: https://www.bedfordma.gov/sites/g/files/vyhlif6866/f/uploads/2022_fall_recycling_event_-_faq_0.pdf

There is no general-purpose dumpster on site and residents will be asked to bring unacceptable materials back home with them.

Other areas of the Compost & Recycling Center will be open during the event, including yard waste drop-off, the recycling area for cardboard, glass, and scrap metal as well as the Universal Waste shed for safe disposal of mercury-containing items.

Questions can be directed to Liz Antanavica, Refuse & Recycling Administrator, (781)275-7605 x4261
