The School Committee Tuesday approved a new three-year contract with 22 custodians and maintenance employees.
“We are treating our custodians and maintenance staff as professionals,” said Superintendent of Schools Philip Conrad. “They really are a partner in our learning environment. And the learning environment begins with them.”
Wednesday Conrad, in an email, reported that “the contract includes a salary scale reset and a 2.25 percent cost-of-living adjustment in year one and a 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment in years two and three of the contract,” which is retroactive to July 1.
The agreement covers 22 school employees. A smaller number of Facilities Department staff members are considered municipal employees.
