The John Glenn Middle School boys’ soccer team just completed an undefeated season, finishing with a 9-0 record.

The JGMS Bucs scored 42 goals over the course of the season while the competition only managed three goals. Alex J led goal scoring with eight goals on the season and Remy K followed with four.  Aiden G protected the goal for the bulk of the season and had a hand in, or single-handedly, contributed to all six shutouts. Emmett D and Will S made impacts on the field and also logged minutes in net. Eighth graders Cam L and Remy K earned the captain title and led a strong squad. The team spread the ball well and attacked from all angles, allowing 24 different players to score goals.

Defensively, the four-flat back line was almost impenetrable. Will G and Cam L provided an anchor in the center while Ansel C, Theo P, Greg S, and Amra U provided outside strength.

Theo, Will, Cam, and Amra also contributed to goal scoring even when playing most minutes on defense.

Centrally, the Bucs were able to attack even from center D with the impressive footwork and long balls provided by Cam L and Will G.

Colin H strengthened the center at the defensive midfield position as he scored two goals from more than 20 yards out. In front of him at attacking center mid, Sanders B frustrated opponents all season with his speed, agility, and ball skills, including scoring on a header. Bradley H proved a versatile player showing strength at center and outside mid as well as striker and frequently dribbled around multiple defenders.

Remy K and his strong left foot set his teammates up all season to score with long crosses.

Will S and Alan L also showed impressive versatility in their play being able to flexibly play strong as both attackers and defenders. Cohen L found a new position in defense center mid and Austin D used his hustle to beat opponents on the outside.

Rohan K provided a consistent threat all season from the left striker position scoring the first and last goal of the season. Alex S and Anuj V also helped attack from the left side all season, each scoring a goal. Emmett K attacked from all positions up front throughout the season.

Ryan V and Sid N contributed in both offense and defensive positions contributing wherever they were needed. Rowan Q played almost every position this year and provided sparks at positions when the Bucs needed tough, physical play.

Soccer newcomers Sam M and Nisarg learned quickly from their teammates and had shots on net. Owen D, Nikhil P, Colin L, Alan B, and Jazek G all contributed to the team as well, playing in any position needed. Colin L and Owen D both scored in games within minutes of coming off the bench.

The JGMS Bucs played as a team and allowed each player’s strength to be highlighted. Their solid passing game dominated all opponents and helped every player improve their play.

Thirteen of the team’s 30 players move on to BHS next year to play at the high school level. With 17 seventh graders set to return next fall, they look forward to another exciting season.
