Several Swimmers Open Season with Qualifying Times

The season just started, but six members of the Bedford High School swim and dive teams have already achieved qualifying times for post-season sectional and state competition.

The results were registered during last week’s dual meet against Waltham High School. Bedford boys were victorious, 89-66, while the girls lost to the Hawks, 96-63.

Junior Matsen Spirn qualified for states and sectionals in the individual medley and for states in the 100-meter breaststroke. Senior Elora Syed qualified for sectionals in two events, the 50-meter free and 100-meter breaststroke

Syed also joined senior Sally MacPhee, junior Millie Bonneau, and freshman Emma Lacchia as they qualified for the medley relay in sectional competition.

The qualifying times are “always a great way to start off a season,” said Coach Samantha Thyne.
