An Obituary: Richard A. Hill

Richard A. Hill, 65, of Bedford, died on Jan. 12, 2023, at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital.

He was the son of the late Roy R. and Helen L. (Harnett) Hill and was raised in Jamaica Plain.

In his early years, he was an altar server at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He attended Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston and studied the trade of boiler making.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17 and served four years. Following the birth of his daughter, he reenlisted in the USAF and served as a Security Police officer until his retirement in 1996 with the rank of Technical Sergeant.

In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his home at the Fam Camp where he made many friends over the years, including his closest friend, Frank Tamanini.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Ide and her husband Mark of Dracut, his three grandchildren, Ashley, Dylan and Gavin, his sister, Maureen Hill and his nieces, Georgene Sault and Lauren Owens and nephew, Brian Roy O’Hare. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hill.

A burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in the spring.
