William “Kevin” O’Toole

He was born in Waltham on Feb. 16, 1952, a son of the late William and Beatrice (Baldero) O’Toole. He was a 1970 graduate of Waltham High School.

He worked for a time as a custodian for the Waltham Public School and drove a cab before being appointed a firefighter with the Belmont Fire Department. He rose through the ranks in Belmont, becoming a Deputy, before accepting the position of Fire Chief for the Town of Bedford. At the time, he was the youngest person to hold that title in the state. He retired after a 30-year career in the fire service.

While a young man, he also became a licensed electrician. In later years, he found great peace and refreshment at the family’s summer home in York Beach, Maine where Kevin spent many happy hours as a lobsterman. He and Nina were grandparents to their six grandchildren.

He leaves his sons, Kevin M. O’Toole and his wife, Cynthia of Naperville, Illinois and Timothy S. O’Toole and his wife, Laura of Waltham; his grandchildren, Drew, Chris, Libby, Timmy, Brendan and Teagan O’Toole; his sister, Karen Vinciulla of Reading; his brother, Richard O’Toole of Wells, Maine and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Kevin’s life by gathering for a graveside service at noon on Thursday, Feb. 2 in Mount Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect St., Waltham.

A broadcast [and recording] of a private funeral service can be found at  https://my.gather.app/remember/kevin-o-toole-2023.

The private service and broadcast will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2 prior to the public committal service at the cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York, 10306 or online at https://t2t.org/
