Did You Know? Caregiving Resources – FREE CLASS to be offered by Minuteman Senior Services

January 12, 2023

We’ve started a new series called “Did You Know?”  The idea is to highlight some of the numerous resources available here in town.  Many of them are free.

Next up: Caregiving Resources – FREE CLASS to be offered by Minuteman Senior Services

Did you know that almost 20 percent of adults in the United States are providing unpaid care to an adult with health or functional needs – parents, spouses or other, often elderly, family members? This number does not include taking care of disabled children.

Caregiving is a huge issue in our country.  As former First Lady Roslyn Carter said: “There are only four kinds of people in the world. Those who have been caregivers. Those who are currently caregivers. Those who will be caregivers, and those who will need a caregiver.”  Most people become caregivers with little or no training, for both the physical work as well as the emotional toll.  Bedford has local resources that can help: the Council on Aging (COA) and Minuteman Services are available.

Minuteman Senior Services is actually holding a virtual six-week seminar for FREE.

Session 1 will be held on Tuesdays from Feb. 7 to March 14 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Session 2 will be on Thursdays from Feb. 9 to March 16 from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

Space is limited & registration is required.  To register contact Marianne DiBlasi at [email protected]  or call 781-221-7095.
