Recreation Job Fair Thursday to Showcase Summer Openings

Swim instructor. Camp counselor. Assistant group leaders.

These are some of the opportunities that will be showcased at a Recreation Department summer job fair, scheduled for Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Reed Room of Town Hall.

The agenda will feature presentations and information about employment opportunities in the department’s three cornerstone summer programs: the Summer Adventures day camp, Springs Brook Park, and Kids’ Club activities. Applicants should be at least age 14 by June.

Summer Adventures counselors “plan and direct activities on a daily basis as designated on the daily schedule,” according to the job description. They “provide an excellent experience for all children in the group; creating a safe, caring, and nurturing environment,” and “ensure that children are supervised at all times.”

Springs Brook Park needs not only swim instructors but also certified lifeguards. There are openings as well on the park staff – attendants who greet park guests, accept payments, monitor park amenities, and provide maintenance support.”

Kids Club assistant group leaders are “responsible for assisting in planning and facilitating activities for school age children of all ages and learning abilities,” while they help ensure “a safe, caring, and nurturing environment.”

Recreation Director Josh Smith said, “Kids can come through by themselves or with parents to ask questions, learn more, and get application instructions if they are interested.” Reservations for the summer job fair may be made through https://forms.gle/sXHoZADYn8GnEMoJA. Drop-ins also will be welcome.
