The Bedford Rock Voices Choir is beginning our Fall Season! Registration is currently open and will continue through 9/29. Rock Voices is America's Rock Chorus. We are a non-auditioned choir that has a place for everyone. No musical experience or training is needed! We rehearse at the Bedford American Legion on Thursday nights from 7pm to 9pm. The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is coming to Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital Sept. 22-25, 2022. The exhibit, along with a mobile Education Center, will be open 24 hours a day and is free to the public. The Wall That Heals closes at 2 p.m. on Sept. 25. Two exciting topics will be presented at the Bedford Historical Society’s Sept. 25th meeting in The Great Hall of Old Town Hall, 16 South Road, Bedford. Past Society President Don Corey will describe the interesting people and sites on an ancient Native American trail in his talk, Tales of Old Billerica Road. He will describe the changes that led the Llewsac Lodge to become Carleton-Willard Village. In addition, the Society will honor four Bedford High School seniors who won first place at the 2022 National History Day Massachusetts State Competition last April. Guided tours are on the 2nd & 4th Sunday, May through October from 2 to 4 p.m. of one of the oldest homes in Bedford, owned by the Town of Bedford. The house has Rufus Porter murals, a beautiful garden maintained by the Bedford Garden Club ladies and Children’s Colonial Games. The Bedford Youth and Family Services (YFS) Department is hosting a Community Dinner and Discussion to nourish your mind and body on Monday, September 26, 6pm-8pm at the First Church of Christ Congregational at 25 Great Road. YFS invites community members, parents/caregivers, teens and tweens for programming about youth mental health. Mallory, from Minding Your Mind, will share her inspiring story about managing her mental health and how she uses self-care and coping skills to support her wellness. On Tuesday, September 27 at 7 pm the Bedford Center for the Arts Photo Group will host a virtual presentation by Nikon Ambassador, Vincent Versace. The topic will be How to Approach Image Processing. Vincent is an internationally recognized pioneer in the art and science of digital photography. On Oct. 8, 2022, the Greater Lowell Indian Cultural Association (GLICA) will be at the Billerica Public Library, 10:00am-2:00 pm. They will be downstairs in the Children's Room with artifacts and ready to answer questions. Upstairs in the Library in the Conference Room there will be a study area on Native American History with folks there to assist with questions. At 3:00 pm GLICA moves to the First Parish Church in Billerica Center for drumming and dancing. Muse Stew will be presenting an evening of Brazilian music featuring special guest vocalist Evelyn Rosenthal. We'll be performing tunes by Ivan Lins, A. C. Jobim, Sergio Mendes, Baden Powell, Mauricio Einhorn/Durval Ferraire, Toquino & Venicius, and Wayne Shorter. The show is dedicated to the memory of David Rumpler with whom we shared our passion for Brazilian music and jazz in general. Muse Stew is led by Arlington resident, Scott Samenfeld.
