What inspires you to continue volunteering in your current role, and how do you plan to keep your outlook fresh? I am inspired to continue volunteering on the Bedford Housing Authority Board because I believe strongly in the mission of the Housing Authority and because I feel more strongly connected to Bedford when I participate in town government. I continue to keep my outlook fresh by learning more about housing issues across Bedford, for example by participating in the community discussion about the Bedford Housing Strategic Study.
What challenges do you anticipate in your coming term? A challenge for the Bedford Housing Authority is to identify new ways to expand the availability of affordable housing in Bedford or to expand programs that benefit those served by the BHA. As the BHA member of the Community Preservation Committee, I am active in discussions about investments that support affordable housing.

Final campaign statement: I love the diversity, strong community spirit, and great amenities of Bedford, and I feel the best way to experience Bedford is to live here. I want to make sure that Bedford’s benefits are available to many. I joined the board of the Bedford Housing Authority two years ago to support its mission of providing affordable, subsidized rental housing for our neighbors with lower incomes. I appreciate the opportunity to work with BHA’s outstanding Executive Director, Brenda Peacock, and the members of the board to oversee the operations of the Housing Authority, and I ask for the support of the community to continue on the Board for a five-year term.

One of the exciting initiatives that the BHA helped bring about is a Life Management Skills program that offers personalized coaching and support for eligible families to help them achieve their educational, employment, and financial goals. I see this initiative as a great example of how the Housing Authority Board can strengthen our community and reduce poverty. Going forward, I would like to engage with representatives from Housing Authorities in neighboring towns to share what is going well in Bedford and learn how their own ideas could work in our town. I also look forward to hearing ideas from members of the Bedford community!
