Batik Workshop with Laura Wallace
March 18, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm$5 – $10
The Bedford Arts and Crafts Society presents a batik workshop with Laura Wallace. Laura has tried many types of art but batik is her favorite. Batiking is a sequential process in which different dye colors are applied to cloth, going from light to dark. After the cloth has dried, wax is painted onto the cloth to seal in the color. Then a darker color is applied that penetrates anywhere there is no wax. The process is repeated until the cloth is mostly covered with wax, and the cloth is then crumpled to create the characteristic crackle effect. The wax is finally ironed out.
You can view Laura’s work at www.twallace.net/art
