Bedford Town “Take Your Own” Trail Walk to the New Davis Road Boardwalk, by Clem Larson

We have been encouraged by Sarah Stanton’s, Bedford Town Manager, recommendation (during this age of social distancing) to encourage exercise by walking our trails. Therefore, the Bedford Trails Committee is introducing a new approach—-we’ll provide the description, map & directions, and you can take the trail walk at your convenience and your own pace.
Our walk starts at Winterberry Way and Carlisle Road (see map below), going through four Conservation Areas to reach the new Davis Road Boardwalk across from the White Cedar Swamp. We return via Winterberry Way. Please see writeup at website listed below for info on the Conservation Areas. Difficulty MODERATE. The trail walk is about 2.5 miles, about 1.5 hours. Trails include tree roots,
Level: stepping over a downed tree, some uneven terrain, and could be wet or muddy.
Where: The walk starts at Winterberry Way and Carlisle Rd. (Rt. 225)—see map. Please
park on Winterberry Way.
From the Bedford Free Public Library, follow Great Road (Rt. 4) North. After 0.2 mi. take a left on
Carlisle Rd./Rt. 225. After 0.8 mi., take a left on Winterberry Way. Total distance 1.2 mi.
NOTE: Please wear walking shoes or boots that can handle wet and mud. Children and dogs on leash will enjoy
the trail too!
