Bedford Town Trail Walk: West Bedford Trails, Saturday Sept. 7 at 9:45 am, led by Michael Barbehenn and Ralph Hammond
September 7 @ 9:45 am - 12:00 pmFree
Please join the Bedford Trails Committee for a free Trail Walk on the West Bedford trails, at 9:45 am on Saturday September 7, led by Michael Barbehenn and Ralph Hammond. Ralph will tell stories about the history of the area, including the Apple Orchard/Apple industry in Bedford, Politics, Nike Site, Corduroy Roads of Bedford, and the Great Cedar Swamp. Starting at the intersection of Davis & Revolutionary Ridge Roads, we’ll walk through the Carlisle Road Conservation Areas (see description and map at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/bedfordma-trails/CbWbEbb-mO0 ) to Old Causeway. Depending on interest, we might continue to the Harvard Lab Station. The walk is about 2.5-3 miles long and, while mostly flat, does have tree roots, bog bridges to cross wetlands, and some narrow trails. The walk takes about 1-1/2 hours at a modest pace.
9:45 AM parking lot behind the Bedford Free Public Library (7 Mudge Way) Directions: From Mudge Way, turn left to go north on Great Road/Rt. 4/Rt. 62, then almost an immediate left to follow Rt. 62 West. After 0.3 mile, take a right on Davis Rd., then 0.5 mile to Revolutionary Ridge Road. Please park on Revolutionary Ridge Road.
