Covid-19 Testing Tuesdays at First Parish

March 8, 2022 @ 10:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)
no testing on 10/13/2020

For the foreseeable future, there will be COVID-19 testing at First Parish on the Bedford Town Common, 75 The Great Road, every Tuesday. ALL are welcome regardless of town of residence, affiliation, symptomology, or ability to pay. This testing is a collaboration between a local lab, the Bedford Research Foundation, and First Parish in accordance with Governor Baker’s Task Force encouragement of universal testing.

Register online and you’ll be given a time-slot and number:

More than 2,000 people have been tested since April, of whom only a few were positive AND asymptomatic – exactly the reason for universal testing!

While in the rare case of a positive test, people are notified by phone within 24 hours, a recent change is that all results are sent by email the next day.  Previously we had to depend on the mail; email obviously is much quicker.

The subsidized cost of the test is now $95 and a form is available so that may be submitted to insurance. First Parish also offers – thanks to generous donors – to subsidize anyone for whom cost is a barrier.  As neither BRF nor First Parish profit from this testing (and actually do so at considerable cost), there’s an opportunity to contribute online so that those unable to pay may be subsidized.

Please pass this information on to anyone who might be interested! If questions:

UPDATE 11/14/2020

Covid-19 Testing Tuesdays continue at First Parish on the Bedford Town Common, in collaboration with the Bedford Research Foundation.  Since April, more than 2,000 tests have been performed and, as always, reservations are made online:

Regrettably, after November 24 we can no longer offer free testing for all Bedford teachers and Town employees because we have been overwhelmed by demand and private donors have been our only source of subsidy.

With the Governor’s Task Force, we believe that universal testing – to residents, employees, students, and teachers – is essential to virus mitigation.

To the best of our ability, we will continue to offer testing to all people, regardless of town of residence, symptomology, or ability to pay.

We cannot offer free testing to all, but private donors will continue to subsidize all with financial hardship.  It is our hope that means may be found to provide universal testing to everyone at low or no cost.
