LAST DAY to Request a Community Garden Plot from Middlesex Community College

June 4, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Middlesex Community College again is inviting Bedford residents to plant and tend garden plots as part of the campus community gardens off Springs Road.

Two sizes are available: eight by eight feet and eight by sixteen feet. The area, which gets plenty of sun and is fenced, is alongside the main campus parking lot.

Participants are requested to file an application, due by June 4, which will be reviewed by the MCC Advisory Committee. Plots will be available for planting beginning that day.

Application forms are available at

A fee of $25, to help offset costs and finance improvements, is charged per plot for residents and MCC employees. Middlesex students can garden at no cost.

Plots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be designated as soon as the application is processed. This plot assignment will then be emailed to the gardener. The college community gardens do not use pesticides or other chemicals.

The arrangement began two years ago when the selectmen’s Community Gardens Study Committee reached out to college officials and learned of the community gardens. The cooperative venture followed.
