Printing Your Photographic Work with Jim Nickelson

November 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

On Tuesday, November 16 at 7 PM the Bedford Center for the Arts Photo Group will host fine art photographer, custom digital printer, and teacher Jim Nickelson who will discuss “Printing Your Photographic Work”.

Jim makes his home in Camden, Maine, with his amazing wife and daughter. Before committing himself to the photographic life over a decade ago, he pursued the classic artistic career path of NASA engineer and corporate attorney (with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a J.D. from Harvard Law School).

Jim has received numerous awards, including being honored as Artist-in-Residence at Acadia National Park, Arizona’s Chiricahua National Monument, and Iceland’s Baer Art Center. Jim has exhibited widely, and his work resides in museum, public, corporate, and private collections across the United States and Canada. www.jimnickelson.com

In this virtual presentation, Jim will explain the basics of printing your photographic work, with an emphasis on inkjet printing. He will discuss preparing your files for print, types of printing services you can use, and explain the basics of printing yourself.  Also, he will explore the artistic side of printing to help you realize the potential of your photograph as manifested in a physical print, including an extensive discussion of paper choices and their trade-offs. The presentation will also include a discussion of presentation styles, portfolios, and marketing materials to help spark ideas about creative uses of printed photographs. www.nickelsoneditions.com.
