Praise has flowed in from the composers and publishers of their music performed by the Kammerwerke Double Wind Quintet on their “British Bounty” concert at First Parish Unitarian Universalist, Bedford, on 31 January 2015.  And judging by the audience’s reaction, the praise was warranted.  Kammerwerke is a Bedford-based wind dectet (2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, 2 bassoons, 2 horns) conducted by Music Director Alan Pearlmutter.

Kammerwerke will present its final concert of the season on 26 April 2015 at First Parish Unitarian Universalist on Bedford Common at 3:00 p.m.  The program, titled “Discover America”, will feature works by American composers written for double wind quintet.

Composer Adrian Beaumont said of the performance of his “Concerto for Double Wind Quintet” written in 1967, “What an interesting and indeed enterprising programme! ….. Your players gave me a very clean and accurate performance….. Please pass on my thanks and congratulations to all concerned.”

Michael Watkins of Reynard Music and publisher of Gordon Carr’s “Sinfonietta ‘In memory of Ruth Gipps’” (1999) called it,  “An excellent programme, and excellent performances. I was especially interested to hear the work by Ruth Gipps, the dedicatee” (referring to Gipps’ “Seascape, Op. 53 (1960), another work on the program).

Jane Woolfenden of Ariel Music and wife of composer Guy Woolfenden passed on their thoughts as well, “We were so delighted to hear Kammerwerke play Reflections – Serenade No 2(2008), which they performed quite beautifully.  Please thank Alan Pearlmutter for his great commitment to the piece, and the bassoon player (Lauren Landry) for a simply beautiful sound. And (the flutist, Carol Epple)…as her playing was also superb.  But everyone played so well that we had a real treat. Please thank them all so much. We both hope you programme some more Woolfenden soon!”
