Fall II Football Season Opens with a Win ~ 34-14 over Weston

Five different players scored and defenders intercepted three passes as the Bedford High School Buccaneers won the first high school football game played in winter, 34-14 over Weston late Friday afternoon at Sabourin Field.

The contest was a successful start to the so-called Fall II season, created to buy time so certain fall sports would have an opportunity during the Covid-19 pandemic. Cheerleaders were also active on the sideline. There were a number of precautions, including a slew of mandatory timeouts, as well as distancing on the bench. But the game looked and felt like football.

Junior Max Alper scored 13 points and added five steals to lead a balanced team effort on opening night, as Bedford High School defeated Waltham, 53-36, in an empty BHS gym.

The Bucs built a 27-10 lead at the half and never looked back, as junior guards Bryan Aweh-Kisob and Jacori McNeil helped pace an aggressive offensive and defensive attack. Junior Jamie Buchannan and senior Matt Mulligan also had strong games for Bedford, which had nine players in the scoring column.

When the coronavirus pandemic struck, Bedford’s spring athletic season was just beginning to get organized.

When the stay-at-home order went into effect in mid-March, the season ended before it began.

Big Win in Lynn ~ Bucs Soccer Team Advances to Final Four ~ Vince Aux Morire

The Bedford High boys soccer team hasn’t been to the state finals in 20 years. In 1999 and 2000, the Buccaneers advanced but were defeated in the opening game.

The 2019 version will now try and take that extra step.

Boasting more than a dozen seniors and coming off of a successful season that fell frustratingly short, the Bedford High boys soccer team had one goal coming into 2019. On a crisp, clear Saturday afternoon in Manning Bowl, that goal came to fruition with a 3-1 victory against Lynnfield for the Division 3 North championship.

BHS Golf has a Rough Start to the Season
